National Affiliations

Aging Services of Minnesota is a state partner of LeadingAge. LeadingAge is an association of 5,500 not-for-profit organizations dedicated to expanding the world of possibilities for aging. LeadingAge advances policies, promotes practices and conducts research that supports, enables and empowers people to live fully as they age.

The Assisted Living Federation of America (ALFA), is the largest association exclusively dedicated to the assisted living provider community and the population it serves. ALFA represents over 5,000 for-profit and not-for-profit providers of assisted living as well as a diverse range of organizations involved in the assisted living industry. Aging Services of Minnesota is one of ALFA's 40 state affiliates nationwide. ALFA is a powerful voice at the national Capitol, working to promote the philosophy of consumer choice and quality of life for seniors. Aging Services members who join ALFA can take advantage of conferences, discussion groups, publications, online resources and group purchasing, among other benefits. Members also receive the award-winning "Assisted Living Executive" magazine.

Cooperative Partners

Aging Services of Minnesota and the Minnesota HomeCare Association have a reciprocity agreement allowing members of each association the opportunity to attend programs of either Aging Services or MHCA at member rates.

The Minnesota Adult Day Services Association (MADSA) is a non-profit organization made up of the administrators and employees in Minnesota's leading adult day centers. MADSA members work to help older and disabled Minnesotans thrive in their communities by providing structured and comprehensive programs that include a variety of health, social, and supportive services in protective settings. For over 25 years MADSA has provided an essential framework for enhancing the visibility and credibility of adult day services.

Long-Term Care Imperative
Aging Services of Minnesota works collaboratively with Care Providers of Minnesota to advocate for older adult housing, long-term healthcare and supportive services in Minnesota. The Imperative advances reforms that will expand housing and care options for older adults. More...

Aging Services of Minnesota has a historical relationship with the Minnesota Hospital Association that goes back to its inception. The two associations share information technology systems and services, business office functions, personnel administration and business office space, providing efficiency and savings to each organization.

In 2006, the Minnesota Leadership Council on Aging invited Aging Services of Minnesota to become part of this prestigious, limited membership collaboration of organizations that represents more than 240,000 seniors and family caregivers. The Council exists to coalesce the resources and power of senior consumer, advocacy, social and health service organizations, and individuals to boldly advocate for and achieve positive system changes for elders in Minnesota.

Health Care Auxiliary of Minnesota (HCAM) was founded in 1946. It is the only organization of its kind in the state which specifically serves health care auxiliaries and volunteer groups. The group works closely with the Minnesota Hospital Association and Aging Services in leadership, recruitment and educational opportunities to help volunteers become a united voice of the healthcare organizations they serve.

Alzheimer's Association Minnesota-North Dakota is a nonprofit organization whose mission is to improve the quality of life of persons with Alzheimer's disease, their families and caregivers through support, education, advocacy, and research. Aging Services of Minnesota works cooperatively with the Alzheimer's association on several projects including quality improvement initiatives and voter registration.

Minnesota's Health Occupation Students of America (HOSA) promotes career opportunities in the health care industry and enhances the delivery of quality health care to all people. Aging Services has a representative on the board of directors for HOSA. This group offers a unique program of leadership development, motivation, and recognition exclusively for secondary, postsecondary, adult, and collegiate students enrolled in health occupations education programs.

HealthForce Minnesota
HealthForce Minnesota is one of four Centers of Excellence in Minnesota, funded by a state appropriation from the legislature, and launched by Minnesota State Colleges and Universities. The Center serves as a collaborative partnership of education, healthcare providers and community to increase the number and expand the diversity of healthcare workers; integrate health science education practice and research; and build capacity for both education partners and the provider community to work together and enhance care and services for Minnesotans. Aging Services currently serves on the Executive Alliance of HealthForce Minnesota as well as its Healthcare Education Industry Partnership Council.

SAGE
Society for the Advancement of Gerontological Environments (SAGE) Minnesota Chapter brings together individuals from a diverse array of professions and disciplines that share the objective of improving the built environments for older adults. Founded in 2010 by members of Aging Services of Minnesota's Culture Change Steering Committee, SAGE promotes collaboration so that education, research, regulation and practice results in appropriate environments for older adults.
